Drones have downward-facing sensors, such as RGB, multispectral, thermal, or LIDAR, and they can capture a great deal of aerial data quickly. For example, surveyors can survey a property in a fraction of minutes, saving time and money. Drones are also useful for monitoring engineering work on construction sites, and they also allow a different perspective on angles for inspection that you may not get from an average person’s viewpoint.

Traditional stucco is applied by attaching a wire mesh to the external walls. A scratch coat of plaster is initially applied, and successive coats are added until the desired thickness is reached. The final or finish coat may have primer added to prepare for paint. Unlike traditional stucco that utilizes natural ingredients and mesh, External Insulation and Finishing Systems (EIFS) use layers that add synthetic materials. The first layer is comprised of a polystyrene foam board. Then, that is followed by a fiberglass mesh and a finishing coat. The layers applied using EIFS provide more protection and insulation than traditional stucco.

Summer heat can take a toll on lawns. If you mow too low, water too much or too little, or ignore early signs of pests, your grass could quickly become lackluster or even completely die in small or large patches. To keep your lawn looking its best all summer long, try using these summer care tips.

Mow at the right height: In summer, adjust your mower height to leave grass taller. Taller grass shades soil, reducing water evaporation, leading to deeper roots, and preventing weed seeds from germinating.

Water properly- For the healthiest grass, water your lawn deeply and infrequently.

Sharpen your mower blade- A dull mower blade tears grass, creating ragged, brown edges that provide an opening for disease organisms. Sharpen your mower blade regularly.

Let clippings lie- If you’re mowing grass at the right height, you can let clippings lie on the lawn. This practice is called grasscycling and saves you time, money, and fertilizer.

Fertilize warm-season grasses: Warm-season turf thrives during summer and needs nutrients. Do not fertilize cool-season lawns during summer. Wait until fall or early spring.

Pick up litter- Summer activities can result in toys, water games, lawn chairs, or tools being left on turf. Pick up everything to avoid damaging the grass or creating dangerous obstacles while mowing.

Tackle weeds- Apply weed control to help control weeds. Always read and follow label instructions. Do not apply a pre-emergent herbicide in fall if you plan to seed or overseed

Why Metal Framing is more common in commercial building rather than using wood.

Metal framing is preferred for commercial projects for plenty of reasons. In most situations, the frame of the building itself is a steel structure with the main beams and supports on the outside walls and ceiling. Interior metal framing is used to separate the rooms and to hang drywall on. Metal partition walls are non-load bearing. Whereas in residential projects, wood framing is load bearing and caries the weight of the floor above and roof, every application requires a different material depending on specifications.

The demolition to a part or the entire building can happen quickly.  The size of the construction project will often bring different variables to consider.  Many times it is most cost effective to retrofit a project into an existing commercial building. Whether you are looking to expand your medical/dental practice into a larger facility, or you are starting out and need to customize a space to maximize the success of your company, careful planning is required for all construction projects.  The demolition of the interior of a building must be carried out with care.

Once you get behind the surface of the walls or above the ceiling, you will have plumbing, electrical, gas, and HVAC throughout the building.  The method of demolition often depends on the size and scope of your project.

Most homes built in the early to mid 19th Century have a basement built with cinder blocks. With advancements to cement delivery and design, the poured cement wall has become the first choice of homeowners and builders ever since.

Poured cement walls offer greater strength against lateral water pressure and are constructed without joints like those found between blocks. Usually, the only joint with a poured concrete basement is between the floor and the wall. The wall sits on top of the footing and creates a “cove joint.” Having significantly fewer joints than cinder blocks improves the resistance to lateral water pressure and enhances the integrity of your foundation. Adding additional waterproofing will reduce the signs of normal cracking and water leaks over time.

The forecast sounds pretty wet for the next few days!  Here are a few tips you should consider to help protect your home during heavy rains:

1.  Inspect and clean your gutters & downspouts and assess your roof at the start of every seasonal change.  Living in Michigan can bring dramatic changes in weather.  Making sure your roof and gutter system are free from damage or normal wear will help reduce and eliminate damage caused by water getting inside your home.  Hiring a professional once a year to professionally inspect your home will often identify problems before they cause major issues.

2.  Evaluate the slope of your yard for accurate drainage.  Water will always follow the path of least resistance.  If that path slopes toward the foundation of your house, it is only a matter of time before it begins to cause major damage to the foundation.  Here is an article with some ideas on how to fix those issues.

3.  The landscaping near your home can have a tremendous effect on the drainage system away from the foundation of your home.  Trees and shrubs often times have a complex root system which can soak up a lot of rainwater.  Vegetation can slow down the flow of water when heavy rain occurs.  This link will guide you in the addition of native Michigan trees and shrubs to your landscape.
